Ferrata delle trincee
MESOLA CRESTS - PADON
This ferrata is considered of medium difficult, the rock is vulcanic origins, and
beautifule view to the Sella group and Marmolada glacier. This tour is also important for our history.
Along the way are visible various Austrian emplacements, trenches and caves from the battle of the First World War.
The best starting point is Arabba by using the Portavescovo cable car, or by foot along the trail nr. 698 (3 hours uphill).
From the top of Portavescovo ( 2478mt.) in 15 minutes walking you arrive at the attack of the Ferrata.
To do all the tour it will take 3 hours, at the end you will arrive in Passo Padon.
From here you can decide if you want to go down to Arabba (2 hours and half down hill) following the trails nr. 699 and. 698 or you can come back to the top of Portavesco and take the cable car.
Difficulty: Medium
Length of walk: Only one piece of the iron road is one hour and a half, plus one hour and a half for Bivacco Bontadini
Equipment: Normal set for the iron road and pile
