Via Alpina

Route that reach the Pordoi Pass from the Città di Fiume hut passing through Pieve di Livinallongo, the itinerary is full of witnesses of the First World War and gives away breathtaking views from Pelmo Mount to the Sella Massif.
It is proposed by the organizazion "Via Alpina", the result of an innovative European project of the eight Alpin countries with the aim of valorizing their heritage and to share experiences that goes beyond the borders.
It is a long route, mostly downhill. You will encounter the important archeological area of the mesolithic burial of the "Mondeval Man", crossing then the Giau Pass. Along the downhill in direction to Pieve di Livinallongo you can enjoy the view on the Marmolada ; after the Falzarego Pass there is the famous Andraz Castle, the Fodom valley symbol and  historical witness of its past events, when arriving in Pieve you can choose to visit the Museum of History, Habits and Traditions of Ladin people.
Going on along the route there are the small villages of Sottil and Sottinghiazza, reaching then the Monti Alti d'Ornela, later Portavescovo and Bec de Mesdì where the landscape is amazing.
At the end you will descend towards the Pordoi Pass, final destination of the route.

Lenght : 34 km.
Minimum difference in level : 1315 mt.
Maximum difference in level : 2271 mt.
Degree of difficulty : hiking
