After two years of waiting, in 2022 the Sellaronda Skimarathon can celebrate its 25th edition, counting on 1300 participants divided into 650 teams from 16 countries around the globe, to perform the exhausting tour with the so-called "sealskins" around the Dolomite atoll of the Sella.
This year's race will take place on 25 March, starting in Corvara in Alta Badia, continuing on to Arabba, Canazei, Selva di Val Gardena and ending at the starting point, the Ice Rink in Corvara. The peculiarity of this race, apart from the fact that it is one of the few ski mountaineering races in Italy, is the starting time, set just before sunset, 6PM. For this reason, among the obligatory equipment is the headlamp, which must be working and attached to the helmet, which is also obligatory.
The passage of the competitors has been calculated around 18:25 at Passo Campolongo, between 18:35 and 19:25 at the Bec de Roces area, while the passage to Arabba will take place between 18:40 and 19:35, with the last passage closing at 19:25. During the Arabba crossing, the services of changing skins and first aid in case of need are offered, before continuing the ascent to the Pordoi Pass along the Pordoi piste to Pont de Vauz, then climbing the Raccordo 2 and Maria to the summit of the Pordoi Pass, calculated between 19:15 and 20:50. Here, after the gruelling 10 kilometre climb, you will be able to enjoy the refreshment service and change skins before continuing the descent towards Canazei.
