An authentic ski resort
Arabba is located at an altitude of 1,602 metres, at the foot of the Sella Massif, between Passo Campolongo and Passo Pordoi, in the heart of the Dolomites.
Ideally located for a trip to the legendary Sellaronda ski circuit and for skiing on the Marmolada. Arabba is considered something of a hidden gem among keen skiers who value wide and open slopes, challenging descents and an authentic alpine atmosphere. Rather than crowds and noise, Arabba stands for quality, close contact with nature and genuine Alpine charm.
The ski area
Arabba is part of Dolomiti Superski, one of the largest ski regions in the world, boasting over 1,200 kilometres of ski slopes and more than 400 lift facilities.
Around Arabba itself, winter sports enthusiasts will find perfectly groomed runs of varying levels of difficulty – from enjoyable carving slopes to demanding black slopes. State-of-the-art infrastructure ensures comfort, short waiting times and maximum safety. Thanks to its altitude and its connection to the Marmolada, the area is particularly snow-sure and guarantees a long ski season from early December through to late spring.
The Marmolada descent
The absolute highlight is skiing on the Marmolada – the highest Dolomite glacier. A cable car takes you up to Punta Rocca at around 3,265 metres. From there, a spectacular descent begins, covering around 1,800 metres in altitude and stretching approximately 12 kilometres in length. The run starts high on the glacier with wide, calm slopes and opens up breathtaking views across the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Further down, the slope becomes more varied and dynamic before leading into the valley. This combination of alpine scenery, reliable snow conditions and impressive length makes the Marmolada descent an unforgettable experience – a must for every passionate skier visiting Arabba.
The Sellaronda
Another major highlight is the famous Sellaronda, the ski circuit around the Sella massif. From Arabba, skiers can set off directly on this unique day tour. Covering around 40 kilometres of slopes, seamlessly connected by lifts, the Sellaronda links several Dolomite valleys and offers constantly changing views of the spectacular mountain landscape across four mountain passes: Sella Pass, Pordoi Pass, Campolongo Pass and Gardena Pass. The route is clearly signposted and perfect for anyone who enjoys variety and panoramic skiing in Arabba. The village is considered one of the sportiest starting points, with some of the more challenging sections located here. The tour can be completed both clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Beyond the slopes
There is much more to do in winter than skiing in Arabba. Snowshoe hikes lead through peaceful, snow-covered landscapes and reveal entirely new perspectives of the Dolomites. Winter hikers can enjoy well-prepared trails and cosy mountain huts. Those seeking adventure will find opportunities for freeriding off-slope or guided ski touring in unspoilt natural surroundings. Even simply spending a day relaxing and enjoying wellness experiences and local cuisine makes Arabba a versatile winter destination, perfect for every taste.
